Google Partners with Shayp to Tackle Water Waste in Belgium

Water scarcity is a growing global concern, and here at Shayp, we’re committed to being a part of the solution. That's why we’re incredibly proud to announce a new partnership with Google and Agua Segura, focused on bringing our precision water monitoring technology to community buildings in Belgium.

This project is more than just a collaboration; it's a testament to how innovative technology and strong partnerships can lead to tangible, measurable results. It showcases a shared commitment to building more resilient communities and a more sustainable future.

Technology Powering a Sustainable Future

At Shayp, our mission is to make territories more resilient to water shortages by reducing water demand in buildings. For too long, undetected leaks have been a massive source of water waste. Research shows that a vast majority of leaks in non-residential properties like schools and universities go unnoticed, leading to millions of liters of wasted water and significant operational costs.

This new initiative, supported by Google, directly addresses this critical issue. We’ll be deploying our IoT-enabled leak detection systems in 240 community buildings near Google’s data center in Belgium by 2030. Our technology captures water usage data in real-time and uses AI-powered analytics to instantly flag anomalies. This early detection enables building managers to act quickly, preventing small issues from becoming major leaks.

For these 240 buildings, our technology is expected to help them reduce their annual water waste by an average of about 500 cubic meters each. This isn't just a projection; our precision monitoring approach provides verified, guaranteed outcomes, ensuring every liter saved is measured and accounted for. This verifiable impact is a core part of what we do at Shayp—it’s how we empower our partners and communities to make a real difference.

Collaboration for Collective Impact

This project is a powerful example of how collaboration can amplify impact. Google's commitment to water stewardship aligns perfectly with our own mission. As Ben Townsend, Google's Global Head of Infrastructure & Sustainability, noted, using technology to identify and address leaks leads to less water waste, lower costs for building owners, and a more sustainable future.

Working alongside Google is our partner, Agua Segura, a company specializing in nature-based solutions and water access projects. They are instrumental in bringing this project to life on the ground, ensuring we maximize the benefits for local communities.

Catalina Deluchi, Vice President of Business Development at Agua Segura, highlighted our shared belief that this project demonstrates the power of working together to deliver measurable results.

“This project demonstrates the power of collaboration to deliver measurable impact and strengthen community water security.”

This initiative is a true community effort, helping building managers and staff become more aware of their water consumption and empowering them with the tools they need to take control.

A Model for the Future

This partnership with Google is a significant milestone for Shayp. It validates our innovative approach and demonstrates how corporate partnerships can drive real-world, verified water savings. This project serves as a model for how we can scale our efforts to help more communities become water resilient.

By working together, we are not only helping to conserve a vital resource but also reducing carbon emissions by lowering the energy needed for water pumps and creating more sustainable, cost-effective operations for institutions that are essential to our communities.

At Shayp, we believe in a future where water efficiency is a standard practice in every building. This project with Google and Agua Segura is a major step forward on that journey, and we're excited to see the impact it will have.
